Casio entered the wristwatch market in November 1974, at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio was confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.

The G-Shock is the ultimate tough watch, born from a developer's dream of "creating a watch that never breaks." Guided by a "Triple 10" development concept, the design teams sought a watch with 10-meter free-fall endurance, 10-bar water resistance, and a 10-year battery life. The number of experimental prototypes built for endurance testing reached over 200, and the structural development and parts improvement took approximately two years. After a long, hard process of trial and error, G-Shock was finally launched.

The shock-resistant structure of the G-Shock overturned conventional thinking about watches, realized through breakthrough thinking, including the ideas of a hollow-structured case, all-directional protective covering, and the use of cushioning material to protect critical parts. The watch features Shock Resistant, 200 Meter Water Resistant, Electro-Luminescent Backlight with Afterglow, Mineral Crystal, 1/100 second stopwatch, Countdown Alarm, and Auto-repeat function.

Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches, where the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, and atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio has also launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the user's cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward, with innovative solutions and a commitment to developing timepieces that lead the market.
